Professor Seyedali Mirjalili (Ali) is the founding director of the Centre for Artificial Intelligence Research and Optimization at Torrens University Australia. He is internationally recognized for his advances in Optimization and Swarm Intelligence, including the first set of algorithms from a synthetic intelligence standpoint - a radical departure from how natural systems are typically understood - and a systematic design framework to reliably benchmark, evaluate, and propose computationally cheap robust optimization algorithms. 

Ali has published over 300 publications with over 40,000 citations and an H-index of 70. As the most cited researcher in Robust Optimization, he has been on the list of 1% highly-cited researchers and named as one of the most influential researchers in the world by Web of Science for three consecutive years since 2019. In 2020, he was ranked 21st across all disciplines and 4th in Artificial Intelligence & Image Processing in the Stanford University’s list of World’s Top Scientists.  In 2021, The Australian newspaper named him as the top researcher in Australia in three fields of Artificial Intelligence, Evolutionary Computation, and Fuzzy Systems. Ali is a senior member of IEEE and an associate editor of several AI journals including Neurocomputing, Applied Soft Computing, Advances in Engineering Software, Computers in Biology and Medicine, Healthcare Analytics, Applied Intelligence, and IEEE Access. His research interests include Optimization, Swarm Intelligence, Evolutionary Algorithms, and Machine Learning.

Majdi Mafarja received his B.Sc in Software Engineering and M.Sc in Computer Information Systems from Philadelphia University and The Arab Academy for Banking and Financial Sciences, Jordan in 2005 and 2007 respectively. He did his PhD in Computer Science at National University of Malaysia (UKM).

He was a member in Datamining and Optimization Research Group (DMO). Now he is an assistant professor at the Department of Computer Science at Birzeit University.

His research interests include Evolutionary Computation, Meta-heuristics and Data mining.

Ali Asghar Heidari (https://aliasgharheidari.com) is currently an Exceptionally Talented Researcher with the School of Computing, National University of Singapore (NUS), and University of Tehran. He is also a guest researcher at Oxford Brookes University. He is also an Elite Researcher of Iran’s National Elites Foundation (INEF). He studied information systems as an outstanding student, ranked one in all classes, with several awards from the College of Engineering, University of Tehran.

He was awarded and recognized by Iran’s National Elites Foundation (INEF). He has been recognized by (publons.com/a/1397783) as the top 1% peer reviewer in computer science and cross-field. He ranked among the world’s top 2% scientists list of Stanford University and top scientists for Computer science prepared by Guide2Research (https://www.guide2research.com/scientists) as an outstanding researcher with an impressive record of cooperation on many international research projects with different top researchers from the optimization and artificial intelligence community.

He has authored more than 110 research articles with over 6300 citations (i10-index of 74 and H-index of 44) in prestigious international journals, such as IEEE internet of thing, IEEE Transactions on Industrial Informatics, Information Fusion, Information Sciences, Future Generation Computer Systems, Renewable, and Sustainable Energy Reviews, Energy, Cleaner Production, Energy Reports, Energy Conversion and Management, Applied Soft Computing, Knowledge-Based Systems, IEEE Access, and Expert Systems with Applications. He has several highly cited and hot cited articles. His research interests include performance optimization, advanced machine learning, evolutionary computation, optimization, prediction, solar energy, information systems, and mathematical modeling. Heidari also serves as an active ad hoc reviewer and has reviewed more than 350 ISI papers for top journals that he published on them. He was the second top reviewer and “outstanding reviewer” of applied soft computing journal in 2018.

He is an active full-time project leader, author, developer, and manager interested in international collaboration, writing, designing, optimizing, and developing different algorithms for information systems. He also develops advanced graphic works and infographics for the scientific community, as his curiosity for free time.

Pedro A. Castillo is an  Professor at the Department of Computer Architecture and Technology of the University of Granada (Spain). He received a B.Sc. degree in Computer Science in 1997 and his Ph.D. degree in 2000 from the University of Granada. He has been visiting researcher at the Napier University (July, 1998) and at the Santa Fe Institute (September, 2000).

He has participated in several international projects and has been leader of several national and regional research projects, as well as activities of knowledge-transfer with companies. He has published over 30 papers in international journals, and more than 150 publications in international and national congresses, several book chapters, as well as other publications, and has directed four PhDs.

His main research interests are in the fields of bio-inspired systems, hybrid system and combination of evolutionary algorithms and neural networks.

He is also editor for the “Journal of Systems Architecture, Embedded Software Design” and has also been involved in the organization of all CEDI conferences (http://cedi.ugr.es), several PPSN, EvoStar, IEEE-CIG, YAPC::EU and IWANN.

He has led the GeNeura research group during two years, and currently he is scientific representative of the UNESCO UniTwin Complex Systems Digital Campus at the University of Granada and Director for Research Policy at the Vice-Rectorate for Research and Transfer of the University of Granada.

Hamad Alsawalqah received his BS in computer information systems from the University of Jordan, Jordan, in spring 2004. He received his MA in management information systems from Amman Arab University for Graduate Studies, Jordan, in spring 2006. In summer 2008, he received his MSc in software engineering from Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST). From August 2006, he was a member of the Global IT Technology program at KAIST until August 2008. He received his PhD in information and communications engineering, software engineering, from KAIST in 2014. Dr Alsawalqah is currently an associate professor in the Department of Computer Information Systems at the University of Jordan. His research interests are in software product lines, product management, project management, and software fault prediction.

Nailah Al-Madi received her PhD degree in Computer Science from North Dakota State University, USA, in 2014 with GPA 4.00/4.00. During her PhD study, she worked as a research assistant, and got two awards (Doctoral Dissertation award, and being selected as one of the top 10% students to join Phi Kappa Phi Society). She earned her M.Sc. degree in Computer Science from Jordan University of Science and Technology, Jordan, in 2009. Her MSc thesis was titled "Chain Based Distributed Routing Algorithms For Wireless Sensor Networks". She received her B.Sc. degree in Computer Information Systems from Al al-Bayt University, Jordan, in 2005, and was ranked first. Before getting her PhD, she worked as a lecturer in University of Jordan and Middle East University (Amman) for about 2 years. She is currently working as an Associate Professor in Princess Sumaya University for Technology, Jordan. Her research interests include: Optimization and Evolutionary Computation, Data Mining, Big Data, MapReduce and Hadoop Framework, Robotics, and Wireless Sensor Networks.
