The EVOML Research Group, under the leadership of Prof. Hossam Faris and Prof. Ibrahim Aljarah, is a team of 6 PhD and master’s students from the University of Jordan. The group is dedicated to studying and developing evolutionary algorithms and machine learning techniques, as well as applying these methods to solve significant problems in various fields such as medicine, business, manufacturing, industry, education, and environmental modeling.
The research group has established partnerships and collaborations with many renowned scholars from various countries worldwide who share their ambition and drive to advance the fields of evolutionary and machine learning. These collaborations have led to the publication of several joint works in respected academic journals, highlighting the group’s contributions to this exciting and fast-growing field.

Hossam Faris is a professor at Information Technology department/King Abdullah II School for Information Technology/ The University of Jordan (Jordan). Hossam Faris received his BA, M.Sc. degrees (with excellent rates) in Computer Science from Yarmouk University and Al-Balqa` Applied University in 2004 and 2008 respectively in Jordan. Since then, he has been awarded a full-time competition-based PhD scholarship from the Italian Ministry of Education and Research to peruse his PhD degrees in e-Business at University of Salento, Italy, where he obtained his PhD degree in 2011.
In 2016, he worked as a Postdoctoral researcher with GeNeura team at the Information and Communication Technologies Research Center (CITIC), University of Granada (Spain).
His research interests include: Applied Computational Intelligence, Evolutionary Computation, Knowledge Systems, Data mining, Semantic Web, and Ontologies.
IBRAHIM ALJARAH is a Highly Cited Researcher (Clarivate, 2021) / Big Data Scientist and AI Technical Consultant (European Union and UNESCO) and Professor of BIG Data Mining and Computational Intelligence at the University of Jordan. Furthermore, ALJARAH is currently the Head of Department of Artificial Intelligence at the University of Jordan, Jordan (First appointed Head). He obtained his PhD in computer science from the North Dakota State University, USA, in 2014. He also obtained his master’s degree in computer science and information systems from the Jordan University of Science and Technology - Jordan in 2006. He obtained the bachelor’s degree in computer science from Yarmouk University - Jordan, 2003. In 2017, He has co-founded The Evolutionary and Machine Learning (Evo-ML.com) Research group which counts 7 PhD and master students from the University of Jordan and collaborates with many well-regarded and ambitious scholars from different countries across the world.
In 2021, Aljarah has been selected among the Highly Cited Researchers in the world by Clarivate for his exceptional research influence, demonstrated by the production of multiple highly cited papers that rank in the top 1% by citations for field and year in the Web of Science. He won UJ Distinguished Researcher Award in 2022 and won Ali Mango Award for Distinguished Researcher in 2020. In 2019, 2020, and 2021, he was recognized as one of the top researchers publishing in Scopus journals in the University of Jordan with 110+ publications in refereed international conferences and prestigious Q1 and Q2 ISI journals with high impact factor with over 11,400 citations and an H-index of 48. In addition, he has ranked amongst the top 2% scientists in the world and the one of top ten scientists in Jordan in Artificial Intelligence and Image Processing field, as per Stanford University Global Ranking 2020.
He participated in many conferences in the field of data mining, machine learning, and big data such as CEC, GECCO, EVOStar, ECTA, CSIT, IEEE NABIC, CASON, and BIGDATA Congress. Furthermore, he contributed in many projects in USA such as Vehicle Class Detection System (VCDS), Pavement Analysis Via Vehicle Electronic Telemetry (PAVVET), and Farm Cloud Storage System (CSS) projects. His research focuses on data mining, Machine Learning, Cybersecurity, Information security, Big Data, MapReduce, Hadoop, Swarm intelligence, Evolutionary Computation, Social Network Analysis (SNA), and largescale distributed algorithms.
Raneem Qaddoura is an Assistant Professor at Al Hussein Technical University. She earned her Ph.D. in computer science in machine learning and data mining. Raneem Qaddoura combines both academic and industrial experience of a total of 16 years.
She is also an active research member of the Evolutionary and Machine learning group (Evo-ML.com), which focuses on evolutionary algorithms, machine learning, and their applications for solving essential problems in different areas. Her current research involves evolutionary computation, deep learning, data classification, and clustering.

Maria Habib is a graduate student at University of Jordan. She is pursuing a Master degree in Web Intelligence, department of Information Technology. Maria had received her bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering from University of Jordan, faculty of Engineering and Technology.
She is a former graduate research trainee at McGill University, Bioinformatics Lab (XiaLab), at Parasitology department.
She has interests in data mining & machine learning, evolutionary algorithms, and multi-objective optimization. As well as, she has interest in bioinformatics applications.

he received his B.Sc in Software Engineering and M.Sc. in Web Intelligence from Al-Zaytoonah University and The University of Jordan, Jordan in 2014 and 2017, respectively. During his graduate study, he published several publications in well-recognized journals and conferences. In addition, he worked as a teacher & research assistant in several projects funded by the University of Jordan. Also, he is a member of the JISDF research group that focus on bridge the gap between the academic and industry mechanisms in security.
His research is mainly focused on evolutionary computation, machine learning and security in Social Network Analysis and other research fields. Since then, he has been working as a research assistant at the University of Jordan.

Mohammad Hassonah is a Researcher and a Software Engineer. He completed his Bachelor's degree in Business Information Systems from the University of Jordan, and his Master's degree in Web Intelligence from the same university.
His research interests are mainly focused on Machine Learning, Intelligent and Knowledge Systems, and Evolutionary Computation.

Mohammed Eshtay has received his PhD in computer science from the University of Jordan in 2018. He has many years of experience in the field of Information Technology working in various positions. In addition to his work in the academic field, he has held many positions in the industry. Dr. Eshtay's research interests include machine learning, evolutionary computing, data science, and NoSQL stores.

Neveen Hijazi is a PhD graduate from the University of Jordan. Her doctoral research is in machine learning field. She received MSc and BS degrees in computer science from Jordan University of Science and Technology, Jordan, in 2010 and 2007, respectively. During her master study, she worked in projects in wireless sensor networks and as a teaching assistant. Before starting her PhD, she worked as a full-time lecturer at Taibah University in Saudi. She also worked as a part-time lecturer at Jordan University of Science and Technology. Her research interests are in machine learning and wireless sensors networks.
